Perpetrator Not-Unknown

Faili Belli (Perpetrator Not-Unknown) has been prepared to follow-up on trials concerning massive human rights violations in the recent history of Turkey. Massive and systematic human rights violations committed by the state, which eventually became cases are monitored, tracked and current information concerning them, along with various related analytical articles, source documents and tools of intervention are published within this endeavor.

The common feature of the court cases being monitored is that they all involve critical cases concerning state officials who were responsible for gross human rights violations against the Kurds in the 1990s and hence present an opportunity for dealing with the past. The points of departure for the endeavor include the ‘’fact of impunity’’ that we face concerning the crimes committed in the 1990s along with the ‘’statue of limitations’’.

These cases which involve perpetrators who have committed crimes against humanity can be considered as a means of confronting with our past. Although it is obvious that the demands for justice on the part of the victims of violence cannot be met fully on the basis of criminal law, we believe that the search for justice can contribute to the confronting process to some degree at different levels.
